Your Questions, Answered

  • At Melewski Counseling, I help adults, young professionals, parents, and couples in Monmouth County who are struggling with:

    • Anxiety and chronic overthinking

    • Depression and loss of motivation

    • Trauma and PTSD

    • Breakups and relationship stress

    • Perfectionism and burnout

    • Family conflict

    • Life transitions

    • Self-criticism and low self-worth

Many of my clients appear high-functioning on the outside — but internally feel anxious, self-doubting, or emotionally exhausted.

Therapy here is about more than symptom reduction. It’s about building emotional strength, clarity, and self-trust.

  • Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. What makes my approach different is the balance between:

    • Evidence-based tools (CBT, DBT, mindfulness)

    • Depth-oriented exploration (psychodynamic and attachment work)

    • Practical structures and accountability

    • A grounded, human, non-judgmental presence

    You won’t just “vent.”
You won’t just “learn coping skills.”
We’ll understand the patterns underneath your anxiety or depression — and build something sturdier in their place.

  • Yes. Anxiety is one of the most common concerns I treat.

    Whether you’re dealing with:

    • Racing thoughts

    • Social anxiety

    • Work stress

    • Health anxiety

    • Panic symptoms

    • Relationship insecurity

    We work to:

    • Reduce physical anxiety symptoms

    • Interrupt catastrophic thinking

    • Strengthen emotional regulation

    • Build confidence in decision-making

Anxiety therapy isn’t about eliminating worry completely. It’s about helping you respond to it differently.

  • If you’re searching for a therapist and any of what you’ve read resonates, the next step is simple:

Reach out for a consultation call.

We’ll briefly discuss what you’re looking for and determine if we’re a good fit.

You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy.

You just need to be ready for something to shift.

  • The first session is not an interrogation.

It’s a structured but comfortable conversation about:

    • What’s bringing you in

    • What you’ve tried before

    • What you’re hoping will change

We begin building a roadmap. And we move at your pace.

  • Session fees are discussed during your consultation call so you have full transparency before beginning.

For Aetna patients, my third party biller will perform a verification of benefits to understand out-of-pocket costs and they will manage claims.

Investing in therapy is investing in long-term emotional stability, relationship health, and self-understanding.

  • Currently, I only accept Aetna. Otherwise, Melewski Counseling is a private pay therapy practice.

For Aetna clients, I bill insurance companies through a third party biller.

For private pay clients, I provide superbills by request for clients to recover partial reimbursement if they have an out-of-network benefit.

  • Yes. Depression can feel like heaviness, numbness, hopelessness, or constant self-criticism.

    Together, we focus on:

    • Behavioral activation (getting unstuck)

    • Addressing negative core beliefs

    • Processing grief or unresolved pain

    • Rebuilding motivation and direction

Depression often tells you that nothing will change. Therapy helps you test that story.

  • Choosing a therapist isn’t just about credentials — it’s about fit.

Clients often describe working with me as grounded, direct, and thoughtful. I’m active and energetic in sessions. I ask meaningful questions, connect patterns, and offer practical tools — while creating a steady, non-judgmental space.

You won’t just vent, and you won’t feel lost in the process. We’ll understand what’s driving your anxiety, depression, or relationship stress — and work collaboratively toward real change.

If you’re unsure about fit, a consultation call is a simple place to start.

  • I offer:

    • In-person therapy in Red Bank, NJ (210 Broad Street)
    • Secure online therapy for clients anywhere in New Jersey or New York.

Many clients value the depth and personal connection that can come with meeting in person, while others appreciate the convenience and flexibility of telehealth. Both options offer meaningful, effective therapy — it’s about choosing what best supports you.

  • Some clients work with me for 10–12 sessions around a focused issue. Others choose longer-term therapy to address deeper patterns.

We revisit goals regularly so therapy remains purposeful.

  • Almost everyone is.

    You may worry about:

    • Being judged

    • Not knowing what to say

    • “Overreacting”

    • Crying

    • Not crying

    All of that is normal.

My approach is calm, collaborative, and direct. My aim is to create a space for you that’s open, yet steady— a place that is welcoming, not intimidating.
